The IMBA (International Mountain Bicycling Association) is one of the key platforms for sustainable, forward-looking mountain bike development. In 2024, the event took place in Mödling—serving as a gathering point for visionaries, trail builders, bike park operators, and organizations dedicated to advancing the sport of mountain biking.
We at RESET were there, too. Together with numerous stakeholders—including representatives from Wexl Trails, Wienerwald Trails, and IMBA Europe—we engaged in in-depth discussions about the future of the sport. A key topic was the creation of accessible trails through targeted yet simple modifications to existing routes.
Accessible trails – small adjustments, big impact
Thomas and I had the opportunity to present our ideas on this topic in a talk. Our approach: **no radical structural changes, but rather well-conceived optimizations that make existing trails accessible to all riders—with or without disabilities.** The response was overwhelming. Bike park operators, organizations, and interested parties showed great interest in implementing such concepts.
A special highlight: **We had the prototype of the Ranger (formerly Legend) with us.** The opportunity to showcase a genuine solution for greater inclusion in mountain biking was incredibly well received. Conversations with trail builders and operators confirmed that there is already a great deal of openness to the topic—now it is time to take the next step.
The atmosphere at IMBA Mödling 2024 was fantastic, the exchange of ideas inspiring, and the conclusion clear: accessibility in mountain biking is not only possible but a logical step toward a more inclusive future.
